A low level Irish train worker gets a job as a stationmaster in an isolated part of the country. He soon finds out that the station is employed by imbeciles who steal for a living. After trying to spruce the place up, the man gets an offer to bring a football team to a far away game. When the day of the trip arrives, the new stationmaster realizes that everything is not as it appears.
